Cadiz, ideal Week-end Gateway

Why spending a 1 or 2 days in Cadiz?

Because Cadiz is a very beautiful Andalusian city which offers pretty much everything to its visitors: nice beaches, museums, old monuments, nice restaurants and a lot more things to do.

If you are there just for a short time, here are Dodo’s top Ultimate things to do in Cadiz.

1/ Make sure you visit Cadiz Cathedral and go up to its tower for the most beautiful view over the city.

The entrance fee for the Cathedral, its crypt and the rooftop terrace is 5 Euros.

You can make a stop at Cadiz Museum just around the corner at the beautiful Plaza de Mina for a better overview of the History of Cadiz with a great exposition of Phoenician sarcophagi, ancient roman statues, as well as Zurbarán and Murillo masterpieces.

2/ Wonder in the the free Genoves Park

3/ Climb to the rooftop of Tavira Tower

You can enjoy the great view  from the rooftop terrace of La Torre de Tavira.

Horarios: 9h00 – 18h00 from October to May

Price: 6 Euros

4/ Relax, have a swim or watch the sunset from Caleta beach

Playa de la Caleta is one of the most charming beach of the Costa de la Luz. The little colorful boats and its golden sand will seduce you.

There is a nice local restaurant there, you should try the Pescado del dia (Fish of the day) and enjoy a cana of beer watching the sunset.

5/ Walk around the seafront & Cadiz squares

Where to stay in Cadiz?

I recommend you to stay at La Casa Caracol in the animated Bario Populo which ideally located near the Cathedral and 5min walk from Cadiz train station for day trips outside Cadiz or for easier access to the Airport.

Casa Caracol is also recommended by Le Routard guidebook.
Easy day or half-day trip from Cadiz:

Jerez de la Frontera
